New MacBook Pro 17″ Rocks

A couple of months ago, Apple released their new 15.4″ MacBook Pro laptop, setting a new standard by which all other laptops should be judged. From its all-aluminum, single-molded body, to the increased battery life to the dual graphics cards to the glass screen and trackpad, this laptop has all of the classic Apple innovations that set these laptops apart from the rest.
Add on other things like increased RAM capacity, large drives, and of course the best operating system on the planet and you have a formidable foe in the laptop wars.
Tuesday, during what appears to be the final MacWorld, Apple outdid themselves. They released the new 17″ laptop, actually outdoing the 15.4″ in a couple of key areas:
- The maximum processor speed is now 2.93 GHz, up from 2.8
- The maximum RAM available is now a whopping 8 GB
- The battery life estimate is now 8 hours
Add to that the screen resolution exceeding true HD at 1920 x 1200 (1080p HD is 1920 x 1080 resolution), and you have one major machine. And like the 15.4″, it is very environmentally friendly.
I am REALLY glad that I did not buy a new 15.4″ when it came out. Now I can get the Mac-daddy, assuming of course that I can actually find $2,912 in the kids’ piggy banks
