Going Green for the Green

Going Green for the Green

Over the last few months, I have become more involved in the ‘Green’ movement. There are many reasons to become more environmentally friendly: it’s good for the planet; it’s good stewardship; and, it can be good for your wallet.

It seems like a whole eco-system is bursting around the Green space. Everywhere you look, new books, sites, ads, videos, and media companies are getting involved in the Green conversation. That is awesome.

So, you may be wondering, how is going green good for my wallet? Glad you asked. Here are some ways you can either save, or better yet, EARN money, by going green:

  • Order the book, 75 Green Businesses You Can Start to Make Money and Make A Difference from the bookseller of your choice.
  • Keep your eye on AllYouCanGreen.com, which will have a publishing system in place when they launch (or soon after) that will allow you to make money by writing articles or shooting videos on Green topics.
  • Install solar panels on your home to generate electricity. If you install enough panels to cover your needs, you can actually sell the excess power generated back to your local utility company. And they have to buy it. Really! You can get group discounts on Solar as well. Check out this article for more info.
  • Install those wacky-looking eco-friendly lightbulbs. They operate on 10% of the power consumed by traditional bulbs, and last for years rather than months. A whole house full of those will save you a lot more than you think. Couple that with some intelligent dimmers, and you can multiply your savings exponentially. I will be posting a link to a new site that will be selling these items at less than retail to the public very soon.
  • Buy a new Mac. Besides being made from 100% recyclable materials and also being extremely energy efficient, they are just too cool! I have no doubt that if you buy one and make the switch, you will soon possess ninja-like computer skills that will translate into more opportunities for you personally, thus generating more income for your family. Hey, don’t sell yourself short - you can do it!
