Tooting Your Horn

Today, I will finally be adding posts for all of the work I have done over the years to my personal website. Previously, samples of my work have been scattered all over the place, from Netphase.com to ThirdDayWeb.com to blogs in various states of neglect. But nowhere can you get a single catalog of all of the things I have done.
Why is this important, you ask? In this continued time of economic uncertainty, it pays to be able to show others what you are capable of. More and more people I talk to are diversifying their income. The concept of multiple streams of income has been around forever, but sadly, most people had been content to work their 9-5, go home, and twice a month, collect a check.
One thing this prolonged recession has taught many people is that you can no longer depend on any one source to provide everything your family needs to live on. Rates are down, engagements are shorter, and full-time work anywhere is a luxury many folks just do not enjoy.
So I encourage all of you - create yourself a website and toot your own horn! Tell us what you are capable of. Show us pictures of the things you have made, the projects you have completed, and the work you have accomplished. Creating a website is easy, especially if you use Wordpress or some other simple blog solution. There are lots of places on the web where you can create a site on the cheap. With the themes that are available, you can even make it look fairly professional with not much effort.
I will be doing the same. I have had sites for years, and due to the nature of my business, I have always had some sort of portfolio online. But there are many things I have done that cannot be found anywhere. Well, it is time I show all of the neat little stuff I have kept hidden in the recesses of my hard drive.
Join me, won’t you? Let’s climb up to the top of the mountain and shout out our accomplishments to anyone who would listen. This is not to boast or brag. But more to let others know what we are capable of. If no one knows what you can do, how can they possibly ask you to do it for them?
Make sure you leave a comment with the url to your work. I want to see what you have done! Who knows, perhaps we will have the opportunity to collaborate in the future.
Cheers, and happy tooting!
